Position Description: Head Teacher and Preschool Director

Reports to: Executive Director

Smart Love Family Services, a leader in the field of early childhood and family support, seeks qualified candidates for the full-time position of Head Preschool Teacher and School Director. The Smart Love Preschool will open in 2010 and serve 3, 4, and 5 year-olds in half-day, five-day-a-week sessions. We are seeking an experienced, energetic and motivated person to be preschool director and head teacher in one of our two classrooms.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Creates and implements age-appropriate curriculum consistent with Smart Love educational philosophy that promotes children’s social, emotional and physical well-being

• Supervises and trains teaching staff, student teachers and volunteers

• Observes, plans and attends to individual and group needs of children

• Supervises documentation and reporting of suspected child abuse and neglect

• Maintains and supervises maintenance of safe, clean and attractive environment, ensuring materials and supplies are in adequate amounts and in good repair.

• Ensures all DCFS licensing standards are met.

• Promotes and models health standard in compliance with regulations.

• Participates in hiring process and observes and documents staff performance

• Organizes and ensures staff meet the DCFS requirements for continuing education credits

• Markets school at fairs, conferences and other gathering as well as other outlets.

• Other responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Type #04 early childhood education certificate

• 3 years experience as a preschool teacher with at least one as lead teacher in a preschool classroom

• Warm, friendly, creative and playful teaching style

• Strong organizational and communication skills and aptitude for management role
