Short Description: This programmer will create highly functional web pages using best practices for coding of HTML, CSS, and Javascript. At the same time, the programmer will help create and maintain internal standards that insure that the pages render properly across multiple delivery platforms. In all endeavors fidelity to design is very important.

The Goal – Quality and Efficiency:

This programmer will have 2 distinct areas of effort. First, they will develop HTML for a backlog of already-designed templates. These designs will be targeted for sale as prefab templates for use with at least 2 distinct web platforms (a popular open source content management system, and an e-commerce system). Standardization will be one key for this effort, as well as an understanding of how the different platforms apply the HTML. Another challenge with this effort is to create HTML templates that are “bullet proof” or which at least degrade well as end-users insert a wide variety of content into them.

Secondly, the programmer will work within a larger team of ASP.NET engineers in the creation of custom websites for our clients. While all members of the team are capable of producing HTML, the UI Programmer will take the lead on HTML intensive tasks and be responsible for setting HTML standards for the team. Many of these projects will call for the use of AJAX techniques.

Skills & Experience Requirements:

- Extensive experience in HTML / CSS / Javascript

- Extensive experience in cross-browser development techniques, browser degradation strategies

- Solid portfolio of work showing fidelity to design and incorporation of AJAX interface techniques

- Experience with jQuery or other Javascript frameworks

- Knowledge of best practices to achieve optimal performance

- Experience in the development of content management templates in general is helpful, and experience with DotNetNuke in particular is a plus

Due to our successes and growth, we are growing our teams in the Portland headquarters. This role is ideal for someone who has good technical skills in Java and Oracle, but enjoys working with clients and customers as part of the “face” of the company. This role is definitely client-facing, and the successful person will be experienced in the client-facing world. This person will present themselves and their ideas and plans well, but have strong skills technically and in project management. They will enjoy leading a team to design, architect and implement great custom solutions for our clients. They will lead others and be the team resource for issues, concerns and guidance in providing clients with a great product. But this role will entail coding and development well over half of your time. And we are a fast-moving organization with strong growth plans, so be ready!

If you are someone who has strong SQL and Oracle database experience, and have Java, XML and Web Services skills, we may need to talk to you.

This is a role in a team that works well together, so a team-oriented approach is valuable, but you should be self-directed and able to prioritize and complete your work with little supervision. But you should be open to reaching out to others when necessary.
