POSITION: Night Manager/Security

This position is full time and will require that the ideal candidate be able to work 5 over night shifts per week. It also includes some weekends and holidays.

POSITION PURPOSE:

To ensure the hotel is operating in an efficient and friendly manner and all guests are being taken care of and to ensure safety and security of all hotel guests and employees.

Essential Functions:

• Enforces hotel policy to assure and improve quality, guest services, employee performance, hotel appearance, property protection and safety.

• Respond to guest complaints, concerns, and suggestions (verbally and in writing) to assure guest satisfaction.

• Takes action as needed for further training or disciplinary action either directly or through supervisors, managers or directors to ensure quality.

• Daily completion and review of Night Manager logs.

• Assist in administrating the Manager on Duty program to assure management coverage resulting in guest satisfaction.

• Assists the Loss Prevention Department in the performance of their duties including conducting investigations, interviews and interrogations.

• Maintain compliance with all local, state and federal laws and regulations by keeping informed on laws and license requirements continuously.

• Conduct guestroom inspections as needed.

• Patrol the interior and exterior of the hotel and hotel grounds to ensure safety and indentify potential security and safety risks.

Maintain order in the hotel, dealing with the welfare of the guests and employees, assisting with door lock problems, etc.

Answer security telephone and safety hotline calls and respond in a timely manner based on priority.

Coordinate response to emergency conditions such as fire, safety hazards and threats.

Handle undesired conduct and violations of hotel policy and civil laws as warranted.

Observe the video monitors, noting and handling any unusual activity.

Know layout of building, including alarm pull stations, fire extinguishers, sprinklers, etc.

Check employee packages as employees enter and exit the hotel. Ensure that hotel property is not being removed.

Pick up all door hanger cards for room service, and also handle any overnight room service orders.

Supportive Functions:

In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.

Summon front service/bell assistance to escort guests to their rooms as appropriate.

Provide safety deposit boxes for guests by explaining hotel policy. File access slips in room order.

Operate facsimile machine to send, receive and log in-coming transmissions. Notify guests of in-coming faxes using the message function of the computer in a timely manner.

Use the photocopier to make copies of items as required.

File registration cards in room number order.

Retrieve registration cards from the files for each checkout.

Other duties will be assigned by the department supervisor; these duties may include assisting PBX operators or reservation agents.

Requirements

The ideal candidate must have previous customer service experience, must be able to work in a fast paced atmosphere and must be able to multi task.

A High School degree required, some collage, although preferred it is not required.

Bilingual would be a plus.

Must also be computer literate.

TIPS certified preferred

Previous Hotel experience in customer service or PBX position preferred

Good knowledge of the hotel, meeting rooms and the surrounding city area.
