We have an immediate opportunity for a System Operations Manager in SACRAMENTO, California.
The Manager of System Operations is a role designed to oversee and manage the day to day activities of Managed services operations staff.
Primarily, this role acts in a managerial capacity to ensure quality services are provided both internally and externally to the department, to improve processes and practices, and to communicate effectively at all times. This role requires a unique individual in that it is both an interface between customers at all levels, and speak with a high level of technical understanding.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
In general, perform the following tasks, as well as maintain knowledge and ability to perform, train and mentor other individuals in the day to day functioning of the group:
o Understand and able to execute the most basic functions of all members of the team
o Measures team performance and recommends and implements improvements
o Handle customer interactions and customer calls.
o Handle Crisis management for customer situations
o Available to assist his direct reports for major issues, outside of normal working hours.
o Maintain current knowledge of policies and principles
SUPERVISORY DUTIES:
Performs all core duties and can fill in for any employee in the team in the event of a manpower shortage. Also performs the following duties as required:
o Manage the day to day activities of the team
o Develops standards and training documentation
o Perform workload management and re-prioritization of tasks based on customer and business needs
o Ability to communicate with and effectively collaborate with upper management, customers, and coworkers.
o Manages client interaction and expectations
o Develop lasting client relationships to become a “trusted advisor” without compromising the company’s interests and obligations
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 2 years network, systems and/or applications administration, 1 years of supervisory and leadership role experience. Note: Certifications and education may serve as a benchmark to verify knowledge but will not be a measure of demonstrated capability.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Combined with the above listed requirements, as well as a demonstrated ability through work and work related tasks, the preferred individual will also exhibit the following competencies and “soft” skills:
o Ability to identify sources of information; collect, consolidate, verify and share information effectively and willingly
o Deliver engaging, informative, and well organized presentations and briefings as needed
o Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion; understand how to communicate difficult or time sensitive information tactfully
o The ability to work well with others in a collaborative and directed environment
o Keeps manager and project managers well informed of progress and issues as required
o Seeks personal and professional growth; seeks and participates in personal development opportunities above and beyond training required by the company.
